  • Anyone have a Rio Forge MP3 Player?? {I need help}

    Here is the Rio that I just bought.

    Ok, here's the problem. I bought one at the end of January for my wife. Used, but in decent shape. The only thing is it didn't come with the installation CD. I downloaded it on their site along with the firmware, but my computer still didn't recognize it. I thought it was a bad unit.

    Ordered a NEW one last week that came with the CD, but after downloading it, my computer STILL doesn't recognize it when I plug it in to the USB Port... I tried all of the availible USB Ports, even the ones that are currently running something, but nothing!

    I downloaded the newest version of Windows Media Player (Ver 10), and Windows XP says that it should automatically be recognized as soon as I plug it in without running any installation CD.

    Any advice? Please use elementary jargon with me when talking about computers. I don't know too much about them and their programs ;)

      Does it show up as a hard drive in my computer? I don't know it should recognize it as long as you have the right software installed. Reinstall that software just to be sure and see if there are any patches or updates available on their site.

      Is there any message popping up once you connect it? For example I have a busted usb gamepad and it will say "usb device not recognized" that's what it will say if something is wrong with the player.

      If all else fails reinstall windows.

        I've tried it all. I downloaded all of the updates and software imagineable, but the Rio Window still doesn't recognize the Forge.

        Here's the thing, I have a Rio Cali from two years ago that works GREAT! Everytime I plug it in, the computer see's it right away and uploads all of the songs. I just don't know why the Rio Forge doesn't want to upload...?

        I just wanted to get the wife a Rio so she can listen to something when she is at the Gym. She AIN'T taking my Rio Cali!

          So nothing happens when you plug it in? No message pops up or the player doesn't show that it's connected? I remeber with my video camera it took a lot of ****ing around with it to get the pictures to upload. That shouldn't be the case with a mp3 player though.

          I would go on rios site and try to contact customer support.

          If that doesn't help what I would do is install windows, but do it in a new partition so you won't lose anything you have on your hard drive. Then before installing anything run the rio software and try it like that.
